The Opposition Patriotic Front (PF) has demanded that the UPND administration leaves street vendors alone until acceptable alternatives are found for them to vacate their trading sites.

Pf Acting Secretary General Nickson Chilangwa has said in a statement obtained by q-news that the former ruling party is disturbed by government’s decision to unceremoniously remove the vendors from the streets.

Mr. Chilangwa says UPND administration is now showing their true insensitive colors.

He has also accused the UPND of being elitist after making fake promises just to win the vote of vendors and the poor masses.

Mr. Chilangwa says instead of fulfilling their promise to reduce the price of fuel and electricity, the UPND administration has broken their promise by doing the opposite of what they promised which has significantly raised the cost of living especially for the poor.

He has charged that the UPND is bent on taking away the little that is left of the livelihoods of street vendors whose life the UPND has already made harder by the removal of fuel subsidies.

He wondered how the UPND government expects the people on the street to survive without providing them an alternative.
