Governance, Elections, Advocacy and Research Services (GEARS) initiative Zambia Executive Director Mcdonald Chipenzi has called on stakeholders to reunite in pushing for the repeal of the defamation law.
Mr. Chipenzi has told q-news in a telephone interview that it does not make sense to have such a in a democratic nation like Zambia.
He has observed that the defamation of the president case against pf chairman for information and publicity Raphael Nakachinda can be a blessing in disguise to Zambia.
Mr. Chipenzi has explained that if Mr. Nakachinda can argue his case very well, it can help the nation to strike a balance between freedom of expression and the sanctity of the office of the president.
He says now is the time for stakeholders to reunite and challenge the continued existence of the defamation law.
PF’s Raphael Nakacinda is facing the charge of defamation of the president following his allegations that President Hakainde Hichilema was summoning judges to his house to coerce them into turning Zambia into a one-party state.
