A group of truck drivers from Zambia, Zimbabwe and Malawi are demanding for their dues from their employer Kelvin Yang of brisk fast trading, a transport company that is registered in both Zambia and south Africa.

According to the workers who did not want to be put on camera, the company in question owes the 233 drivers dues in excess to k300, 000 each in salary arrears, gratuity, risk allowance and other allowances, but that their employer has told them that he can only give them k27, 000 each.

The workers have told Q-news that they have since decided to hold on to the trucks until their dues are cleared.

They say the issue was taken to court and is still active, but were aggrieved to see some named members of the judiciary in-charge of their case at bona plaza mall in Lusaka’s Linda township with their employers having a discussion over a meal last evening.

The workers who pretended to be customers at the same shopping mall decided to capture the moment on camera before confronting their employers on what they were doing with the members from the judiciary when the matter is supposed to come up for mention on Thursday, 23 December, 2021.

It was then that chaos ensued and a Q-news crew that rushed to the scene found the police leading the two aggrieved parties to central police for questioning on the matter.

Meanwhile, bus, taxi and truck drivers association of Zambia (BTTDAZ) president Godfrey Chitanga who is sympathizing with the workers and representing them in the negotiations has urged the drivers to remain calm as the matter is coming up in court.

Mr. Chitanga refused to comment further on the matter as it is in court.

efforts to get a comment from brisk fast director kelvin yang proved futile.
