Parliamentary has unanimously ratified the presidential appointments of Justice Dr Mumba Malila and Vincent Malambo as Chief Justice and member of the Judicial Complaints Commission respectively.

The motion for the adoption of the report of the parliamentary select committee appointed to scrutinize the presidential appointments of Dr Malila and Mr Malambo was moved by Katombora Member of Parliament Clement Andeleki and seconded by Milanzi Member of Parliament Melesiana Phiri.

Contributing to debate on the motion, Southern province Minister Cornelius Mweetwa says the nominations of the two have come at the right time when the new dawn government has declared war against corruption and plunder of national resources.

Mr Mweetwa says the appointments will add impetus to the fight against corruption.

He states that this is because there is currently an outcry by some individuals that the fights against corruption is ethnically driven, while others have claimed that the arrests being made in pursuit of those suspected to have been involved in plunder of national resources is an affront on human rights.

Mr Mweetwa says the judiciary is in safe hands with Justice Dr Mumba Malila at the helm.

And Justice Minister Mulambo Haimbe has described two appointees as being above board and the right people for their respective positions.
