Fifty six (56) Zambia Army personnel have sustained injuries and are admitted to Maina Soko military hospital after an Army Marcopolo bus registration number AF 1280 in which they were in overturned in Lusaka today.
Police Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga says the accident occurred this morning around 06:30 hours along Mungwi road opposite Celene’s Private school.
Mr Hamoonga says the accident happened when the driver of the Zambia Army bus Warrant Officer Class Two Collins Kamau who was approaching from the Western towards Eastern direction misjudged clearance distance of a stationary Toyota Haice mini bus whilst descending at a curve and went on to hit into it forcing the mini bus registration number ALF 8790 to move off the road on the extreme right side before the Army bus lost control and overturned on the left side of the road.
In a statement obtained by Q-News, Mr Hamoonga says the Zambia Army bus had its left side damaged while the mini bus which was being driven by an unknown driver who fled the scene had its rear part equally damaged.
