Mweetwa assures south farmers of payment

Southern Province Minister Cornelius Mweetwa has assured farmers in Chief Moyo’s Chiefdom in Pemba district who have supplied maize to the Food Reserve Agency that they will soon be paid their money.

Mr Mweetwa says government is working round the clock to find the money and clear the K1.6 billion the FRA owes farmers across the country.

Addressing farmers in the area, Mr Mweetwa said the new dawn administration made a resolution to purchase more maize than budgeted for from farmers to prevent the maize from going to waste.

And Chief Moyo says farmers in the area are not worried with the delayed payment from the FRA because they understand the situation.
