Ministry of health to continue collaborating with cooperating partners

Minister of health Sylvia Masebo says government through her ministry will continue to collaborate with cooperating partners to improve sustainability and foster partnerships from better outcomes for Zambian citizens.

Ms Masebo says this is in line with the ministry’s vision of employing ICT’s in healthcare service delivery through strategic partnerships.

Speaking when she visited the telemedicine site at the art section of Kanyama level one hospital in Lusaka today, ms Masebo says the e-health vision entails the use of ICT’s to improve access to quality healthcare provision as much close to the families as possible through the deployment and exploitation of ICT’s and other modern technologies.

She says the new dawn administration welcomes and appreciates partnerships as this will help to promote and improve people’s health in the country especially those living with HIV/AIDS.

The telemedicine is an initiative that allows health professionals to conduct medical examination of HIV patients located in different places using modern technology.

Speaking at the same event, acting country director for the us centers for disease control and prevention Genesaa Giorgi says ICT systems developed by Pepfar have been leveraged frequently to support other public health needs.

She says the telemedicine model and platform is an example of a system that pepfar is supporting for HIV care and treatment, adding that with additional investments in future, it should be used to support a variety of health needs and situations.

And historically black colleges and universities consortium country generous Mukanga says the system has helped to improve clinical work and assured that the appropriate level of care is available for all clients at locations.
