The Council of Churches in Zambia has distanced its self from a misquoted headline that was written by an online page in the name of patriotic front-pf  which read,’ we  can’t pray for pf leaders’- Fr.Chikoya a story which was taken  from the daily nation with the headline pf being hypocritical on churches.

CCZ General Secretary Emmanuel Chikoya says the story that was published by daily nation represents the actual views of the CCZ, however, it should be placed on record that the headline carried out by patriotic front- pf does not in any way express the position of the CCZ.

Fr. Chikoya notes that from the story written by daily nation, there was no where were the purported   quotation was mentioned, therefore, intentions by the pf to mislead the public as indicated on their Facebook page must be condemn in strongest terms as malicious.

He states that the CCZ as it has always done in the past will continue to speak for those who are treated unfairly regardless of their political, tribal and religious affiliation but the CCZ will not defend anyone who is found wanting by the law of the land as relevant authorities should be given space to carry out their duties in a professional manner within the confines of the law.

He notes that contrary to some claims by an opposition political party leader Bowman Lusambo that the church has been silent on certain national matters, the nation should be informed that a number of statements and interviews have been made by CCZ adding that a simple check and verification of facts would help prevent the issuing of sweeping statements.
