President Hakainde Hichilema has directed acting secretary to cabinet Patrick Kangwa to ensure that guidelines and procedures are set and effected in January 2022 to commence the process of reuniting public service workers separated from their families due to transfers.

The head of state regretted that families were separated by illogical human resource reasoning that saw civil servants separated from beloved ones.

President Hichilema described the action to transfer married spouses as destructive behavior on the part of those who designed and crafted the policy of transferring married spouses leading to separation of families.

ZANIS reports that President Hichilema said this when he swore in Nicolas Phiri as permanent secretary for special duties at cabinet office.

President Hichilema described Mr Phiri as “a serious, and hardworking young man” who deserves to serve his country, just as much as other Zambians.

The President commended Mr Phiri for representing and speaking out for other Zambians despite suffering oppression at the hands of the state prior to the 2021 general elections.

President Hichilema told Mr Phiri that his position is critical to the attainment of the UPND/Alliance agenda of transforming Zambia into a better, calmer country based on the rule of law and affords opportunities to all Zambians.

President Hichilema said his new dawn administration remains resolute in transforming the country as promised to Zambians prior to the 2021 general elections.

The head of state said the recent distribution of the equalization fund in full to all councils across the country signals the intent of his administration to effect the desired change in upscaling service delivery to Zambians.

And speaking after being sworn in, Mr Phiri said he will work with everyone to ensure that the new dawn administration’s vision of transforming the country is implemented.
