The Southern Africa Cross Border Traders Association has appealed to government through the ministry of health, to consider reducing the fees for the COVID-19 PCR tests.

Association secretary general Jacob Makambwe bemoans that taking a PCR COVID-19 tests which determines one’s COVID 19 status is now a requirement for cross border traders, but that the charges for the tests are too exorbitant for the traders.

Mr. Makambwe tells Q-news that the PCR test charges are currently at about K1,500 per test, a situation which is proving to be quite difficult for the traders, especially those who have to frequently cross the borders.

He has since appealed to government to consider reducing the charges for tests.
