Lift up women to fight climate change – Nzovu

Government has called on women leaders in the country to embrace and lift up fellow women in society in order to have an inclusive understanding in the fight against climate change.

Minister of green economy and environment Collins Nzovu has observed that women have the potential to heighten and bring to the fore actual implementation of measures that mitigate climate change.

Mr. Nzovu was speaking when he officiated at the women leaders for climate action event held at the residence of the British high commissioner in Zambia last evening.

He says the new dawn government is committed to working with all institutions championing women participation in climate action.

Mr. Nzovu says this process will facilitate for women inclusion in policy making aimed at addressing the causes and consequences of climate change.

Meanwhile, World-Wide Fund for nature (WWF) Zambia, the British high commission, ABSA bank Zambia and Zanaco through their women representatives pledged various actions for climate change ranging from funding to planting of over one million trees over the next three to five years.
