The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has joined the rest of the football family in mourning its former General Secretary George Kasengele.

Kasengele, who served as FAZ General Secretary from 2008-2012, also previously served as executive committee member in 1997.

“On behalf of the FAZ executive committee and the entire football family, we mourn the loss of our dear brother and comrade in sports Mr George Kasengele,” says FAZ president Andrew Kamanga.

“Football has been robbed of one of its long serving members who contributed to the game to the very last days of his life.”

Kamanga says the FAZ community regularly tapped into Kasengele and several other previous administrators in trying to develop the game.

“Mr Kasengele was memorably part of the August 14, 2019, football indaba ta Hilton Hotel where former presidents, general secretaries, life members, and ex-players met to brainstorm on the future of the Zambian game,” he says.

Kasengele also served as an official at Profound Warriors that is now Napsa Stars. He was the General Secretary of FAZ during the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations triumph.

This according to a statement issued by Sydney Mungala, FAZ Communications Manager.
