Review land policies and laws, Govt told

Zambia Land Alliance Executive Director Patrick Musole has called on the new dawn administration to review the land policies and laws to ensure the protection of natural resources.

Mr. Musole tells Q-News that there is need to strengthen the laws and see how best finances and the capacity of agencies and government departments can be backed up to protect forests which are a major contributor in reducing the impact of climate change on the environment.

He says government also needs to look at reducing the rampant charcoal production by providing alternative means of livelihood to the people because most of them have continued cutting down trees for charcoal production as a means of survival.

Mr Musole states that deforestation is one of the major causes of climate change world-wide.
