The Golden Party of Zambia has urged the Ministry of Agriculture to swiftly pay farmers that supplied maize and other crops to the Food Reserve Agency in order to avert a possible food crisis.
Party president, Jackson Silavwe says it is disheartening that more than forty days into the 2021-2022 farming season, the farmers have still not been paid.
Mr. Silavwe says if not attended to swiftly, the none payment of farmers will have a negative bearing on the current farming season.
He has since urged the new dawn government to treat the farmers with dignity by paying them in time especially now that permanent secretaries who are the controlling officers in the ministries have been appointed.
