The Center for Trade Policy and Development (CTPD) has advised the New Dawn Administration to focus on strengthening the extension service provision to enhance efficiency among farmers particularly the peasants.

CTPD Executive Director Isaac Mwaipopo says Zambia needs to migrate to digital options to alleviate the challenges faced in financing extension service operations at various levels.

Mr. Mwaipopo says government should leverage of the many technology options to improve the provision of extension services across the country.

He has noted with regret that most Agriculture Extension Officers spend a lot of time doing nothing due to lack of transportation for them to carry out their work.

Meanwhile, Mr. Mwaipopo has urged the new dawn administration not to entertain the idea of scraping off the FISP electronic voucher system.

Mr. Mwaipopo says the e-voucher system is a game changer in the agriculture sector as it provides various options for farmers.
