DEC nab six drug traffickers

The Drug Enforcement Commission has arrested six (6) people for trafficking in over 4 Kilograms of heroin, 842 grams of cocaine and 900 Kilograms of cannabis.

In Eastern Province, the Commission has arrested and jointly charged Sunday Njoku, a male aged 43 and Raphael Ganizani, a male aged 29 for trafficking in 3.99 Kilograms of heroin and 842 grams of Cocaine. The two were arrested in Chipata with the drugs which were destined for Lusaka. 

Commission assistant public relations officer, Julie Mukumwa, says on the Copperbelt, the Commission has arrested Oliver Siame, a male aged 33 of Plot 50, 9th Street in Chingola for trafficking in 248 sachets of Heroin that were concealed in a desktop computer and in a Toyota Corolla with registration number ACV 4652 which is believed to have been the vehicle that was being used for deliveries of the drugs.

She says both the drugs and the motor vehicle have been seized.

In Lusaka Province, the Commission has arrested Timothy Kanyanta a male aged 34 of Chirundu District for trafficking in 361 sachets of Heroin.

Meanwhile, the Commission through its Anti-Money Laundering Investigations Unit has arrested a Businessman for theft and money laundering activities involving over K3.5 million contrary to the Laws of Zambia.

Shadreck Matabishi, a male aged 45 of Plot 55504 in Chalala off Shantumbu Road has been arrested for theft of K3,533,770.51 from a named Ministry by fraudulently withdrawing money over the counter on names of other people as beneficiaries and mostly members of staff from the named Ministry without the knowledge of the beneficiaries.
