Outgoing Permanent secretary for technical services in the ministry of education Jobbicks Kalumba has called on his successor to address the issue of redefining the education curriculum.

Dr. Kalumba notes that for some time now, this has been something that he has wanted to do so that if a child has interest in a particular field from a lower level, they are supported to take that direction until they become the best at it.

He emphasizes on the need to build children in entrepreneurship and production unit activities so that they do not rely on getting into employment after completing education but be able to be employers.

Speaking during a hand over meeting with the new permanent secretary for technical services Joe Kamoko, Dr Kalumba says it’s disheartening for children to fail to go further in their education simply because they have failed in one or two subjects, but have an interest in a particular area which is not part of the education curriculum in Zambia.

Meanwhile Dr. Kalumba has also appealed to his successor to ensure he upholds high levels of integrity especially because the Ministry of Education has been known to have a bad reputation for some time.

And Mr Kamoko has noted that the new dawn administration has a lot of expectations from the ministry of education as the coming of the small and medium enterprise development ministry is to support the entrepreneur skills which should be imparted in a child at an early age.
