A 14-year-old girl of Kalomo district is battling for her life after being defiled by an unknown 60-year old man.
relatives of the victim have since expressed their disappointment that the police have not arrested the suspect despite having reported the matter to police on Wednesday.
aunt to the minor, Florence Siambelele told ZANIS while at the request Muntanga hospital bedside in Kalomo that the victim was defiled on Monday, November 8, 2021 and the neighborhood reported the matter to police on Wednesday this week.
she narrated that the victim went to fetch water when a group of men who were drinking illicit beer enticed the girl into drinking and later one of them took her home where she was defiled until she fainted.
Ms Siambelele said the girl was later taken to sikweya rural health centre, but that the situation deteriorated and was referred to the hospital where she has remained unconscious.
And the police victim support unit acknowledged the incident and is working towards arresting the culprit.
