RTSA institutes investigations on fraudulent issuance of licenses

The Road Transport And Safety Agency (RTSA) Has Instituted Investigations On The Alleged Fraudulent Issuance Of Driving Licenses At Ridgeway Driver Examination Centre In Lusaka.

This Comes In A Wake Of A News Story Aired Today Morning, On Radio Phoenix Citing A Clique Aiding The Fraudulent Issuance Of Driving Licenses.

Rtsa Head Of Public Relations Fredrick Mubanga In A Statement Issued To The Media Today Says Depending On The Outcome Of The Investigations In This Matter, The RTSA May Consider Ordering Re-Tests For All Driving License Applicants Who May Be Found Wanting For Not Following Procedure In Obtaining Driving Licenses.

Mr. Mubanga Indicates That The Move Is Pursuant To The Provisions Of Section 68. (1) (C) Of The Road Traffic Act No.11 Of 2002, Which Empowers The Director To Order For A Fresh Driving Test In The Case Of Any Holder Of A Driving License Who Appears To Be A Source Of Danger To The Public, And If The License Holder Fails To Pass Such A Test, The Director Shall Revoke That Persons License.

He Mentions That RTSA Is Also Concerned With The Increase In Corrupt People Impersonating RTSA Officers In Order To Extort Money From Members Of The Public.

He Charges That Members Of The Public That Will Be Found Impersonating RTSA Officers Will Be Prosecuted According To The Law And Those That Use Agents Will Be Made To Re-Start The Process Of Driver License Examination Upon Discovery Of Such Dealings.

He Has Cautioned All Officers To Uphold The Highest Levels Of Integrity And Warned Those That Will Be Found Engaging In Fraudulent Activities Will Be Prosecuted In Accordance With The Provisions Of The Anti-Corruption Act No.3 Of 2012.
