National Action For Quality Education In Zambia Naquez Has Urged Government To Recruit All 30,000 Teachers In The First Quarter Of 2022 As Proposed In The 2022 National Budget To Recruit 30,000.

Speaking During A Press Briefing Held In Lusaka By A Consortium Of Six Civil Society Organizations Including Civil Society For Poverty Reduction CSPR, National  Action For Quality Education In Zambia, Jesuit Centre For Theological Reflection JCTR And Wash Zambia Gave There Reflections And Recommendations On The 2022 National Budget.

NAQUEZ Executive Director Aaron Chansa Says Since The Since The UPND Administration Told Zambians That They Have Already Procured The Money To Fund The 2022 National Budget, It Will Be Imperative For Them To Employ 30,000 Teachers Within The First Three Months Of 2022.

Mr. Chansa Has Also Made Recommendations To The New Dawn Government Among Them Includes Release Grants To Schools On A Timely Basis To Support Secondary And Primary School Operations In The Absence Of User Fees, Recruitment Of Teachers Corruption Free To Ensure A Fair And Merit-Based Recruitment Process And Build Proper Houses For Teachers In All Parts Of  The Country.

Speaking At The Same Event Jesuit Centre For Theological Reflection JCTR Executive Director Father Alex Muyebe  Says The 2022 National Budget Has Allocated More Resources To Social  Spending Than Was Allocated In The 2021 National Budget Stating That The Increase Range Between 13% And 44% For Education, Health, Wash And Social Protection.

Fr. Muyebe Says The Increment Of From K30.4 Billion In 2021 To K40.6 Billion In 2022 Represents A 34 Percent Increase In The Debt Repayment Which Is At The Backdrop Of Increased Debt Servicing Expenditure And Fast Approaching Major Debt Repayment Deadlines Starting 2022 September.

He Has Since Cautioned That Economic Growth Does Not Necessarily Translate Into Poverty Reduction And Enhance Development Outcomes Especially In The Rural Areas.

Meanwhile Civil Society For Poverty Reduction CSPR Programs Manager Edward Musosa Says Government Must Ensure Timely And Consistent Disbursement Of Funds Adding That One Of The Notable Challenges Is The Delay In Disbursements Of Funds Into Social Protection Programs Due To Erratic Finding.

He Says The Increase In Social Cash Transfer Beneficiaries Coupled With The Upward Revision Of The Transfer Amount To K200 And K400 Is Progressive Will Improve And Enable The Beneficiaries To Meet Their Day To Day Needs As Well As Enable Them To Meet Them Accumulate Assets For Better Livelihoods An Subsequently Move Of Poverty.

He Further Says That These Increments In The Social Protection Budget Will Cause The Poverty Levels In The Country To Remain Low For The New Poor And Those Whose Deprivation Has Been Worsened By The Social And Economic Shocks That Have Hit The Country.
