Load shedding to occur due to fault at Kariba

ZESCO limited has announced the resumption of load shedding following the reduction of generation capacity due to a fault at Kariba north bank and Kafue gorge power stations.

in a statement issued by the public relations department, the utility says it has taken out one generating unit at Kariba north bank power station and another at Kafue gorge upper power station due to faults on each of the units which has resulted in a power deficit of 250 megawatts.

It says the deficit will affect power supply during peak period and result in load management in some parts of the country from 18:30 hours to 21:00 hours daily to ensure system stability.

ZESCO projects that the outage will continue until the 7th of november,2021 when the repair works will be concluded.
