Zambia’s annual inflation decreases

Zambia’s Annual Inflation for October Has Decreased To 21.1 Percent from 22.1 Percent Recorded Last Month Indicating A 1 Percent Decrease.

Announcing The October Monthly Bulletin, Zambia Statistics Agency Acting Statistician General Mulenga Musepa Has Attributed The Drop In Inflation To Price Reductions In Both Food And Non-Food Items.

Mr. Musepa Says The Reduction Means That On Average Prices Of Goods And Services Increased By 21.1 Percent Between October 2020 And Octo0ber 2021.

And Mr. Musepa Has Disclosed That The Food Inflation Rate For October 2021 Has Decreased To 28.1 Percent From 29.6 Percent Recorded In September 2021.

He Has Attributed The Decrease In Annual Food Inflation To Price Movements In Price Movements Of Food Items Such As Cereals Like Breakfast Mealie Meal, Roller Mealie Meal, Maize Grain, Imported Rice And Bread Flour, And Meat Products, Eggs, Cooking Oil And Onion Among Others.

Mr. Musepa Says Non-Food Inflation Also Decreased To 13.2 Percent From 13.6 Percent Last Month.

Meanwhile Mr. Musepa Has Announced That Zambia Recorded A Trade Surplus Of K4.8 Billion Kwacha In September 2021 Compared To A Surplus Of 3.6 Billion In August 2021 Representing A 22.5 Percent Increase.

He Has Since Announced That The Cumulative Trade Recorded From January To September 2021 Was 273 Point 5 Billion Kwacha While The Total Trade Recorded In 2020 For The Same Period Was 165.7 Billion Kwacha, Indicating A 65.1 Percent Increase.
