HH Pledges to unite Zambians

President Hakainde Hichilema has pledged to continue uniting Zambians as the country commemorates its 57th independence anniversary.

Speaking after paying his respects to late republican presidents at embassy park, president Hichilema said he will ensure that he carries on the mantle of former presidents of ensuring for economic emancipation and uniting the country.

And president Hichilema further announced that he will embark on a program to lay wreaths on the graves of former freedom fighters who have passed on.

Earlier on, president Hichilema led hundreds of Zambians in commemorating the Zambia’s 57th independence anniversary by laying wreaths at the Lusaka’s freedom statue.

President Hichilema in his first independence celebration as republican president arrived at the freedom statue at about 09 25 hours.

The laying of wreath ceremony was also attended by acting chief justice Michael Musonda , speaker of the national assembly Nelly Mutti  , cabinet ministers, senior government officials , members of the diplomatic corps ,some opposition political party representatives, freedom fighters and members of the public.

President Hichilema was the first to lay a wreath at the statue followed by service chiefs and diplomats which was preceded by a 21 man gun salute in remembrance of the departed heroes and heroines who fought for Zambia’s independence.

And in delivering the homily, chaplain general at the ministry of defense, brigadier general apostle Vincent Mwenya who quoted Isaiah 60 urged Zambians to work hard in order for the country to see the much yearned to change,further urging citizens to be careful on how they seek and embrace change.

President Hichilema is currently holding an investiture ceremony at statehouse where he is awarding various citizens for their immense continuation to the nation.
