Generation of Progressive Youth. a nongovernmental organization whose main aim is to promote mental health and eradicate drug abuse has urged the UPND administration to introduce mental health lessons in schools in order to reduce the continued suicide among teenagers and adolescents that are arise from mental health.
Speaking in an interview with q news, organization president Norah Kabu says mental health has continued to affect young people negatively leading to suicide due to lack of mental health lessons in schools.
ms kabu says this has lead to many youths to resort to committing suicide as they do not know how to react when hit by mental health.
she also says the current guidance departments in schools were teachers attend to issues affecting pupils at schools are not effective in fighting mental health as they are not conducted by professional therapist by teachers.
she also there is need for government to establish rehabilitation centers across the county where young people can access mental health services.
