A cross section of society in Kitwe has commended President Hakainde Hichilema for his historic move to interact with the general public on Radio Phoenix.
A number of ordinary residents and civil society leader told ZANIS in an interview commended President Hichilema for his continues efforts to interact with the public through media engagements.
Mr MacDonald Chipenzi, GEARS Initiative Executive Director, says that he was particularly happy that President Hichilema was able to tell the general public his administration’s vision for the country.
Mr Chipenzi said such kind of media engagements will help President Hichilema not to lose touch with the electorate.
He further noted that this is the first time the country has a Republican President who gives a feedback from an international assignment.
He was hopeful that the president will continue interfacing with the public in future even when they may be angry with certain things.
And Anti-Voter Apathy Project (AVAP) Zambia Copperbelt Chapter coordinator Foster Jumbe says interacting with the general public will help President Hichilema to know what the people want and consequently come up with policies that address their concerns.
Mr Jumbe has advised Zambians to take advantage of the President Hichilema’s willingness to interact with them and give him facts of challenges they are facing so that he can address them.
President Hichilema yesterday featured on a special phone-in program on Radio Phoenix where explained various issue on what his government is doing.
The Republican President also took time to answer questions from callers on various issues of interest.
