The opposition Patriotic Front has been accused of conducting tribal and regional campaigns in the Kaumbwe and Msanzala by-elections in Eastern province.

GEARS Initiative Executive Director McDonald Chipenzi says PF vice-president, Given Lubinda, is tolerating his members who are uttering tribal and regional remarks in his presence during campaigns and even tread on that political trajectory.

Mr. Chipenzi says it is sad that the PF has continued to move towards the direction of self destruction by sticking to tribal, sectional and regional campaigns in the advancement of their political agenda.

He has wondered why the PF has continued on this trajectory which failed to work during the August 11 General Election even when the party has been talking about rebranding, restructuring and rebuilding.

Mr Chipenzi has stressed the need for the law to take its course, especially the penal code and the public order Act on anyone promoting tribalism and sectionalism.

He has further appealed to the people of Kaumbwe, Msanzala and Chisamba to reject politicians who want to divide them for politics and self motivation.

But when contacted for a comment, PF Vice President Given Lubinda says Mr Chipenzi is merely making accusations without proper evidence and that the PF will not waste time responding to him.

He has however, challenged those making such accusations to feel free to report to law enforcement agencies to investigate the party.
