President Lungu calls for concerted efforts in tackling effects of climate change

President Edgar Lungu has called for concerted and collaborative global efforts in tackling and mitigating the devastating effects of climate change.

President Lungu says the impact of climate change is frustrating efforts aimed at achieving the UN 2030 agenda for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

He has emphasized the need to maintain the momentum of addressing effects of climate change which he says has potential to undermine the development gains made so far.

Speaking at State house when he received letters of credence from 15 Ambassadors and High Commissioners accredited to Zambia, President Lungu says the recent UN climate Action Summit resolved to accelerate the momentum to address the climate change crisis .

He has urged the diplomats to work with the Zambians government as it diligently tackles climate change.

Meanwhile President Lungu has expressed gratitude to the British government for resuming funding to Zambia’s health sector in the wake of financial reforms the government has put in place.

He notes that this will help Zambia attain Universal Health Coverage for all.

And new British High Commissioner to Zambia Nicolas Kerrison Wooley has reaffirmed the UK’s commitment to work with Zambia as it seeks to realize its gals of becoming a prosperous middle income country by 2030.

The Ambassadors and high commissioners who presented their letters of credence include those from Botswana,South Africa,Sweden, head of the European Union delegation to Zambia among other.
