No one has died of starvation in Shangombo- DMMU

Government has refuted reports suggesting that five people have so far died of starvation in Shang’ombo District owing to severe hunger in the area.

Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) National Coordinator Chanda Kabwe says his office is not aware of any deaths arising from starvation anywhere in the Country.

Mr. Kabwe says the DMMU has however taken interest in the supposed deaths and will dispatch a team of directors to establish the causes of the said deaths.

He has told QTV News, that by the permission of the bereaved families, the DMMU wants to see the death certificates to confirm that indeed the deaths were caused by hunger.

And Mr. Kabwe has refuted the insinuation by Shang’ombo Member of Parliament Mubika Mubika that the distribution of relief food in the District is being conducted on partisan lines.
