Barclays transition to ABSA advances as K71m is invested

Barclays Bank Zambia has invested over k71 million in technology systems as its transition process to ABSA reaches an advanced stage.

And the bank will next week on Monday launch the first ABSA branch in Lusaka.

Speaking at a media briefing in Lusaka, Barclays bank Zambia managing director Mizinga Melu says the bank will this month launch three ABSA branches as the transition continues till June 2020.

Mrs. Melu has reiterated that there will be no job losses during the transition period.

Speaking at the same briefing, bank director for change enablement James Dowie says more changes are expected in the next few months.

And Barclays Bank Zambia retail banking director Harton Maliki says customers will continue using the same bank documents such as ATM’s during the transition period.

He has since advised customers to be alert of any would be fraudsters that would want pass false information concerning the bank’s transition period.
