Continued exploitation of workers worries FFTUZ

The Federation of Free Trade Unions of Zambia (FFTUZ) has noted with concern that the exploitation of workers remains one of the biggest challenges affecting the labour force in the country.

FFTUZ is therefore urging the ministry of labour and social security to change its approach in dealing with employers who do not abide by labour laws and ensure action is taken against them.

Speaking during a media briefing in Lusaka, FFTUZ President Chingati Msiska notes that while foreign investors are critical to the country’s economy, it is unacceptable for them to exploit workers.

Mr Msiska has further urged FFTUZ affiliates to bring to his union’s attention any stubborn and exploitative employers in the country.

Meanwhile Mr. Msiska says the union is happy that government has set aside a substantial allocation towards dismantling of domestic arrears in the 2020 national budget to the tune of 2.3 Billion Kwacha.
