CSPR foresees hike in electricity impacting education

The Civil Society for Poverty Reduction (CSPR) has projected that an increase in electricity tariffs is likely to negatively impact education levels in the Country.

Acting Executive Director Juliet Ilunga says the CSPR foresees a situation where some parents will be failing to afford electricity and thereby reduce hours of study for their children who revise in the night.

Ms. Ilunga notes that the CSPR also foresees youths in businesses that require electricity such as wielding going out of business because of the high cost of electricity.

She has warned that this will however mean that some youths will resort to committing crimes to earn an income.
