Zambians told to brace for increased cost of living

Zambians have told to brace themselves for increased cost of living in view of the increased fuel pump prices and impending increase in electricity tariffs.

Former Economics Association of Zambia (EAZ) Chrispin Mphuka is projecting that with the hiked prices of fuel and electricity, prices of essential commodities will also go up.

Dr. Mphuka anticipates a further upwards adjustment in the price of mealie meal.

In an interview with Q-News, Dr. Mphuka says government intervenes, there is going to be a serious impact on the cost of living in the Country.

Dr. Mphuka, who is an economist and university lecturer, has also projected a difficult national budget for next year owing to the current economic situation and burden of serving public debt.

He doubts Finance Minister Bwalya Ng’andu will have no room to maneuver considering the burden of servicing public debt.
