UPND demands reversal of decision to hike fuel prices

Government has been urged to reverse the announced increase in fuel pump prices which came into effect at midnight.

Leader of the opposition in Parliament and Monze Member of Parliament Jack Mwiimbu has told Journalists in Lusaka that government should consider the impact this will have especially on the poorest of the poor in the country who mostly rely on public transport.

Mr Mwiimbu has noted that the problem of fuel procurement is an issue of middlemen involved.

He says the increase in fuel prices has the potential to worsen the hunger situation in the country.

And Mr Mwiimbu says UPND members of parliament will join workers in protesting against the enactment of the constitution amendment bill should government go ahead to enact it.
