Stakeholders share expectations of 2019/20

The Transparency International Zambia has called on Finance Minister Bwalya Nga’ndu to increase the budgetary allocation to the anti-corruption commission in the 2020 national budget

TIZ Chapter President Reuben Lifuka has told QTV news that the anti corruption commission should be adequately funded to effectively fight corruption in the country.

He says increased funding will enable the acc to have a presence across the country as well as carry out its mandate effectively.

On his part, Financial Analyst Blessings Kafwanka wants government to prioritize resource allocation to the energy sector in the 2020 national budget.

Mr. Kafwanka bemoaned the negative effects of load shedding on business and the economy at large, thus the need to increase budgetary allocation to the energy sector.

And PF Chinsali Central Member of Parliament Kalalwe Mukosa wants the minister of finance to highlight how the austerity measures government has come up with will be implemented.

And UPND Nkeyema member of parliament is hoping that the minister will make available constituency development funds members of parliament have not received in their constituencies.

Meanwhile Zambia National Union of Teachers Spokesperson Joe Kasaka wants government to allocate about 20 percent of the 2020 national budget to the education sector.

And Basic Education Teachers Union of Zambia Spokesperson Kabika Kakunta has bemoaned the continued reduction in budgetary allocations to the education sector which he says has negatively affected the provision of quality education in Zambia.
