Happenings in SA negatively impacting on trade – Kawesha

Zambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Chabuka Kawesha says the happenings in South Africa call for policy makers at higher levels to urgently put in place measures to arrest the situation as this is negatively impacting on trade.

Mr. Kawesha has described the hijacking of four Zambian trucks in South Africa as sad and detrimental to trade, especially that it comes a few days after the xenophobic attacks on foreign nationals.

He notes that with South Africa being a key corridor for the SADC region, there is need to ensure security of transporters, who are key players in trade facilitation.

Mr Kawesha states that if the situation of hijacking trucks is allowed to continue, this could result in revenue losses for South Africa, Zambia and other countries.
