Phiri weighs -in on prospects for change of government in 2021

Political historian Bizeck Phiri says he does not see the current economic challenges in the country being the basis to change government in 2021.

Professor Phiri says this is because challenges such as load shedding and the increased cost of living have been brought about by nature.

In an interview with Q-News, Professor Phiri says the fact the Country has a power deficit due to low water levels at power plants does not mean that the government has failed.

He says high prices of mealie meal occasioned by the scarcity of maize as a result of poor rains the Country received during the last farming season cannot equally be blamed on government.

Professor Phiri says this entails that even if government was to change today, challenges of load shedding and high cost of living in the Country would not go away.
