President Lungu replaces FIC board

President Edgar Lungu has appointed new board members for the Financial Intelligence Center (FIC) to replace the John Kasanga led board.

Finance Minister Bwalya Ng’andu has told a media briefing where he introduced the new board that the appointments come at the back of the end of tenure of the previous board in January,2019.

Dr Ng’andu has since thanked Dr John Kasanga for his contribution as interim board Chairperson, and the board members for their tireless efforts in furtherance of the objectives of the FIC.

He has named the new board members as Justice Prisca Nyambe,Pelagia Kalunga,Dr Mike Goma,Regina Mulenga and George Siame who is also the board chairperson.

Dr Ng’andu says he has no doubt that with their diversity and experience; the new board will be equal to the task and continue to make the Financial Intelligence Center the leading institution in the anti-money laundering and countering the financing of terrorism regime.

The Minister has reminded the new board that they have a duty to uphold the operational independence of the institution as this is one of the requirements by the International Anti-money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism standards on the operation of the financial intelligence units.
