No street protests will be allowed against SA Xenophobic attacks – Kampyongo

Home Affairs Minister Stephen Kampyongo has warned Zambians against taking to the streets to engage in acts of lawlessness in the name of protesting against xenophobic attacks in South Africa.

Addressing a media briefing, Mr Kapyongo says no one will be allowed to take to the streets to protest.

He says in as much as emotions are high over what is going on in South Africa; there is need for civility and diplomacy to be upheld.

Mr Kampyongo says government is engaging the South African government on what is happening in that country and remains optimistic that an amicable solution will found.

He adds that security has been beefed up at Kazungula border where two South African truck drivers were attacked.

Mr. Kampyongo has also warned against posting online messages that have the potential to incite violence.

And commenting on the planned march by the Patriotic Front to defunct NDC leader Chishimba Kambwili’s residence to present a petition over his alleged insults on the President, Mr Kampyongo says Police will protect Mr. Kambwili in any way possible if need be.
