Zambian stabbed in South Africa

A Zambian national in Gemiston, South African has sustained life threatening injuries after being stabbed on the forehead by a group of unknown people.

Daniel Lupiya, 33, was attacked this morning on his way home after dropping his niece at one of the schools in the area.

According to information availed to the Zambian mission in Pretoria, Mr Lupiya was brutally attacked after a group of unknown people greeted him in the local dialect but could not respond.

He was then brutally stabbed and left for dead before being rushed to Gemiston hospital where he was attended to. His condition has since been described as stable.

The assailants motive for the brutal attack has not yet been established, but is suspected that he was attacked because of the current wave of violent attacks against foreigners in South Africa.

Mr Lupiya has been in South Africa for two months visiting his brother who lives in that country.

The Zambian high commission in South Africa is advising Zambia in South Africa to take extra precautionary measures to ensure their safety.

South Africans have gone on rampage looting and torching shops believed to be owned by African immigrants.

Videos widely shared on social media show several burnt cars in what appears to be a second-hand care dealership.
