SADC leaders challenged to speak out against Xenophobia in SA,as PF writes to ANC

APC President Nason Msoni

All People’s Congress party President Nason Msoni says there is need for leaders in the SADC region to strongly speak out against the Xenophobia taking place in South Africa.

And Mr. Msoni has called on the government to either provide for the safe return of Zambians in South Africa or put measures in place to enhance their safety.

He says government should urgently summon the South African High Commissioner to Zambia to get a briefing on the ongoing attacks on foreign nationals and offer guarantees and safe passage to Zambian citizens who might be stranded in South Africa.

Mr. Msoni says the silence by the SADC leadership especially in the wake of the escalating violence in South Africa is deeply worrying and questionable.

He says the silence by the SADC leadership is testament of the weakening leadership in the bloc.

Meanwhile Patriotic Front Secretary General Davies Mwila has written to his ANC counterpart Ace Magashule urging him to lead South Africans in a “new kind of struggle “against xenophobic oppression.

In the letter dated 3rd September, 2019, Mr. Mwila has recalled that Africans across the continent and Zambia in particular, provided refuge and solace to their exiled South African brothers and sisters, as they stood shoulder to shoulder with them in very trying circumstances during the apartheid era.

He has since expressed confidence that the ANC and the people of South Africa will prevail over xenophobia.

This is according to a statement made available to q-news by patriotic front media director, Sunday Chanda.
