Avic intl. signs $17 million deal with 16 Zambian subcontractors.

AVIC International Zambia Limited, the main contractor on the Copperbelt International Airport project, has signed a USD 17 million deal with 16 Zambian subcontractors.

The local subcontractors engaged will carry out various construction works on the project which Avic intends complete on time.

According to a statement made available to QTV News by Avic Public Relations Officer Justinah K Mukuka, the company has hired Chawe Investment Limited and M&N Industrial Merchants Limited to construct Perimeter Access Roads while Base Building Maintenance Construction Limited will supply and install a steel fence.

Mrs. Mukuka says Talo Investment Limited will undertake constructions of the Sewerage Water Treatment and Garbage Transfer Station.

She says Davisam Zambia Limited has been tasked to structure a special garage, aircraft hangar, security check room, police station, quarantine area and sewerage treatment station, while DH Engineering Consultants will provide project management services.

Mrs. Mukuka adds that M&E Trading and Construction Limited will carry out constructions of bulk stations while Lobe Contractors and Mining Service Limited will assist in the construction of Fuel Farms and Public Service Stations.

She has further indicated that CODECO Construction Limited will separately undertake the Excavation of Communication Cable Trenches, Installation of the Sewerage Water Treatment and Garbage Transfer Station as well as Firefighting Engineering while JOTECH Mining Logistics will work on the installation of a fuel farm and public service station while Flora Jack Enterprises Limited will conduct sewerage works and construction of a trash incineration station.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Mukuka has stated that construction works of the local employees shelter at Lusaka’s Lilayi L400 Department two, which was temporarily shut down for two weeks by Labour Commissioner Chanda Kaziya, are progressing well.

She says 60 percent of works have so far been down and we will soon invite you, our friends from the media and officials from the ministry of labour for inspections once the works are fully completed.
