Over 500 applicants on waiting list for liquor licenses- LCC

The Lusaka City Council (LCC) over 500 applicants are on the waiting list for liquor licenses.

LCC public relations manager George Sichimba says it is against this background that the council’s legal services committee has amended the procedure for issuing liquor licences to the over 500 applicants on the waiting list.

Mr. Sichimba says the decision is meant to quicken the process and offload the backlog, stressing that the amendments apply only to applicants who have been on the waiting list for some time.

He has explained that the main differences between the existing procedure and the amended one are that fees will be required to be paid at once and the issuance of liquor licenses will precede the tour by the liquor committee.

Mr. Sichimba explains that this is because making payments in stages and tours by the liquor committee proved to be time consuming leading to the backlog.
