The English Premier league is underway and teams have played two matches in the competition so far. The league kicked off on the 9th of August with the first match between Liverpool and Norwich City. Liverpool won the first game with ease, showcasing their strength in the competition by winning 4-1. Liverpool has to be one of the main contenders for the cup in the 2019/2020 season. The team won the coveted UEFA championship against Tottenham Hotspurs by beating them 2-0 in the final. Liverpool went on the play Chelsea in the 2019 UEFA Super Cup. The game was played earlier this month and the match was decided on penalties after the match drew two all. Liverpool won the match 5-4 in a penalty shoot out to win the match. The team is coached by Jürgen Klopp from Germany.
Chelsea is currently sitting on the bottom part of the log having only played two matches. The Blues who is coached by former player Frank Lampard qualified for the UEFA Championship by finishing in the top four of the English Premier League. Lampard has his work cut out for him; the team lost their opening match 4-0 against Manchester United and drew their second match against Norwich City. Current title holder Manchester City who is coached by Spanish coach Pep Guardiola is currently at the third spot on the log. The team won last year’s English Premier League with one point, finishing on top of the log with 98 points. They gain an automatic entry to the UEFA Championship League.
Manchester United had a poor performance last year. The Red Devils finished 6th on the log and did not qualify for the UEFA Championship but gained entry into the Europa League. The team who is currently being coached by Ole Gunnar Solskjær had a rough start under Portuguese coach José Mourinho in 2018 and was sacked midway through the season and was replaced by Solskjær. The Red Devils are definitely showing signs of improving this season and will be aiming to finish in the top four teams in the 2019/2020 season.
