Three drown in Lake Mweru after boat capsizes

Three people have drowned while two others have survived after the boat they were in capsized on Lake Mweru in Nchelenge District OF Luapula province.

Acting Police Spokesperson Danny Mwale says the incident happened on 22nd August, 2019 between 04:00 and 05:00 hours when the boat they were in while fishing capsized due to strong winds.

Mr Mwale has identified the deceased as Joseph Mwape aged 26, Bernard Kasongo aged 22 and Emmanuel Mwansa aged 27 all of Samashi village in Nchelenge District.

He adds that Rogers Mwape and Fewdays Nsama aged 25 and 26 respectively managed to swim to safety. Mr. Mwale says the bodies of the deceased have not yet been retrieved.
