The Police have arrested six ex-convicts who have been terrorizing residents with a spate of house break-ins and thefts from motor vehicles in Kapiri Mposhi.
Household goods and car batteries and stereos worth thousands of Kwacha have since been recovered and some of the owners have identified their items.
Central Province Police Commissioner Chola Katanga has confirmed that the arrested ex- convicts, who have been living in Zambia Compound, were apprehended in a random operation on Friday.
Mr. Katanga has named them as Sunday Sikanyika, 29, popularly known as Dangote, Kennedy Mpundu, 40, Brian Kasabwe 42, Gift Mainza 32, Norniface Mulenga 23 and Mathews Mutende 28.
He has told ZANIS the items retrieved from the arrested suspects include, among others, six car batteries, three Hi-Fi and home theatres, car stereos and an amplifier.
