Zambia strengthening surveillance in entry points amidst Ebola outbreak in Congo

Health Minister Chitalu Chilufya has assured the nation that government through his ministry is strengthening strategies and programmes aimed at preventing the outbreaks of measles and Ebola that has broken in the neighboring Democratic Republic of Congo.

In a ministerial statement on the measures being put in place to prevent Ebola or measles outbreaks,Dr Chilufya says people entering Zambia from the DRC are being screened thoroughly at all points of entry.

He says so far no case of Ebola has been recorded, but that there is need to remain prepared and heighten prevent measures.

Dr Chilufya says his ministry is carrying out health promotion awareness campaigns on how Ebola can be prevented.
