Remain objective, Ndoyi advises EAZ leadership

The Economics Association of Zambia leadership has been advised to remain an objective and neutral player in safeguarding the economy from further deteriorating by avoiding making alleged careless comments that are misleading.

Commenting on the recent statement attributed to EAZ President Dr. Lubinda Habazoka in which he called on government to consider nationalizing the mines without compensation, MMD youth Prince Ndoyi feels such a statement is but one that is attention seeking with potential to erode investor confidence especially in the mining sector.

Mr Ndoyi adds that such statements from the EAZ president who is the convener of the upcoming national economic summit in Livingstone are disappointing and a direct contradiction to what the summit hopes to achieve.

He says such comments coming ahead of the economic summit which is expected to headline as a platform for Economic Diplomacy will only result in the platform being crowded with dramatic statements and incoherent assumptions.

Mr Ndoyi has since advised Dr. Habaazoka to talk about who would be the suitable investors for the country’s mining sector  taking into account issues of tax compliance, payment towards cost reflective electricity tariffs and good salaries for workers.
