Governance, Elections, Advocacy, and Research Services (GEARS) Initiative has demanded that Justice Minister Given Lubinda should furnish the nation on how the K2 million allocated to the National Dialogue Forum (NDF) was utilised.
GEARS Executive Director McDonald Chipenzi says the Minister should share with the nation who benefited from the money considering that most delegates claimed self-sponsorship including ministers, MPs, CSOs, the Clergy, traditional leadership among others.
Mr Chipenzi says the Justice Minister should fulfill the promise he made on May 15, 2019 that he would give a comprehensive financial statement on the expenses related to the NDF process.
He notes that it is over 60 days since the NDF concluded its work and the Minister has not issued any comprehensive financial statement.
Mr. Chipenzi says considering that it is public funds involved, there is need for transparency and accountability to avoid unnecessary speculations and suspicions in the utilisation of such funds.
