ACC not probing Amos Chanda – Moono

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) says it has not instituted any investigation into the suspicious financial transactions former presidential press aide Amos Chanda is alleged to have engaged in last year.

In the 2018 Financial Intelligence Center (FIC) report, Mr. Chanda is cited as having moved US$ 3.3 million in suspicious financial transactions.

But ACC Public Relations Manager Timothy Moono has told Q-News in response to query that the commission is currently not conducting any investigations against Mr. Chanda.

Mr. Moono has also declined to comment on the number of cases the ACC is pursuing from 2018 FIC report and on its investigations into cases cited in the 2017 FIC report.

He states that the commission shares information with the FIC and other law enforcement agencies within the country, but is unable to provide details as information is shared in confidence.
