Cochrane-Dyet hails emphasis on Corruption in EL’s speech to Parliament

British High Commissioner to Zambia Fergus Cochrane-Dyet has hailed President Edgar Lungu for placing emphasis on the fight against corruption in his State of the Nation address to Parliament.

Mr. Cochrane-Dyet says corruption remains one of the biggest challenges Zambia is currently facing.

In an interview with QTV, Mr. Cochrane-Dyet says he is heartened that in his address to Parliament President Lungu encouraged law enforcement agencies to do more in dealing with corruption.

He however, states that the litmus test to this commitment in the fight against corruption is the prosecution and conviction of corrupt senior government officials.

The British envoy says this is what the international community is waiting to see.
